*Job Description:* Interdisciplinary humanist to coordinate the
development of our expanding General Humanities Program within the
Department of Classics and General Humanities. We seek a scholar whose
academic specialty is the European Renaissance/ Early Modern period. He
or she will teach the core courses in the General Humanities Major:
General Humanities I: Ancient/Medieval, General Humanities II:
Renaissance/Modern, and the Senior Humanities Seminar
((http://chss.montclair.edu/classics/classics.html) and other courses in
the program. In addition, he or she will develop General Humanities
courses aimed both at majors and the wider student body, and will work
with departmental full and part-time faculty and students to focus and
enhance the General Humanities curriculum.
*Qualifications & Requirements:* QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in a
humanities discipline. Evidence of excellent teaching skills as well as
a strong scholarly agenda that will lead to tenure. We are looking in
particular for candidates who have demonstrated interest and/or
experience in broadly- based Humanities programs. Experience/Knowledge
of the study of mythology a plus. Candidates should demonstrate a record
of proven success in teaching and should be able to produce evidence,
such as peer reviews, student evaluations, statements of teaching
philosophy, and/or syllabi. Two-years full-time college teaching
experience strongly preferred.
*Salary Range:* Commensurate with experience.
