Rice University Humanities Research Center Postdoc – Nov. 30, 2011 deadline

It looks like Rice is offering two humanities-wide postdocs, emphasizing interdisciplinarity.  I came across this on Academia.edu, but more information can be found on the Rice website.

I have mixed feelings about the usefulness of applying to Humanities-wide postdocs given the outrageously steep competition and the time involved in applying.  Certainly the big ones at Princeton, Harvard, and Michigan feel almost as productive as going down to the Corner and buying a lottery ticket.  But you can’t win if you don’t play!  Given that the Rice post-doc appears to be new and is offering two fellowships makes it a bit more enticing.
